Finally Kolu is ending today with Vijayadasami. Ten days of fun, poojai, sundal, vadai.payasam, panagam, neermoor everything is ending today. Had a great kolu this year, just that we didnt have tradinal dolls. But last saturday that wish too got satisfied when our friends gifted us the Radha-Krishnar set. Now my Kolu seems to be complete. And wish next year Kolu will be grand and greater (in India, if god wishes).

Yesterday our friends gifted a RadhaKrishna set. The most lakshanam set I have ever seen. We simply loved their gift.

I like my Kolu when the deepam is on. It gives an elite effect.

Thirteen year old girl giving a courageous speech infront of World leaders. Can see her with full confidence and great spirit. Hearty congrats to this brave girl. Wish I could see more kids like her.

Climatic change is indeed a great concern for our world now. When these little brains can think and take steps this early, why not us? This will be my third post regarding this topic. Yet, I feel like writing it again and again.

Plastic has become a part our life, though unable to minimize its use, let us at least recycle it. A local fellow near my street comes and search every dustbin in and around our street to find if he can get  any plastic bottles for recycling. Though those plastic bottles are his penny earner,  I can see him as an environmental cleaner, he cleans all those plastics. If plastic is one unavoidable, papers in Western countries too join this list.From wipes to sanitation everyone depends on paper. We can minimize the usage by using cloth napkins to clean your tables, kitchens, living room .Take our own bags for grocery shopping.  By this way we can minimize and avoid.

Reforestation and avoiding plastics play important role in balancing our eco-system. Balancing it is vital for a better and healthier environment.

As this girl said,
If not here, then where?
If not now , then when?
If not we, then who?

I say, as the generations go, they will  get a further spoiled environment if our earth is treated the same way now. Lets stop treating it bad. Let us learn to care and teach our future generation how to care.

My all time favorite festival..

This is our first Kolu. I didnt purchase any dolls. All I have is from my pooja room. But still we managed to change our pooja space into a kolu. I am all excited as this is my first kolu after  our marriage. We could never succeed keeping a Kolu for some reason or other for past two years. This time, we made it. First of first, Day 0- my lil amateur  kolam. Though not so great, still managed to bring something on, in the name of kolam...

நல்ல மழை பெய்யும் காலை, 5:30 மணிக்கு எழுந்து எங்க வீட்டு balconyல சாரல் வரும் இடம் நின்று மழையை ரசித்துக்கொண்டே ஒரு filter காபி குடிப்பது ரொம்ப பிடிக்கும்.

Was so upset that we were unable to buy one clay Pillayar for Pillayar Chathurthi. But that was all compensated yesterday when we went for Pillayar immersion procession in our nearby temple. I was also happy to knot the garland for the Pillayar.

Pillayar was placed in a small ratham. Was so happy I was also one among those who pulled the ratham till the river.

The ratham finally reached to the river. We had to pull the ratham across one big corn field and finally reached the sluggy, muddy river.

The Pillayar idol was taken  from the ratham and was all set to immerse in the river.

After the final aarthi, the Pillayar was taken into the river with loads of chorus, "Ganapathi papa moriya, mangal moorthy moriya".

Final show before immersion

Finally, the Pillayar idol was immersed in the river. We were totally 150 people who participated in this procession. Had a great divine feel participating in this procession.
